GUARDAMAR HOTEL OCCUPANCY AT 100%

Hotels in the town of Guardamar del Segura reached an occupancy rate of 100% during the first fortnight of August, a figure that confirms the upward demand for holiday accommodation during the current summer season.

The data was provided by councilor, Carmen Verdú (PP), and was based on information supplied by the Tourist Office in the town. The rate of occupancy during the month of July, however, was around 90%, with 860 rooms remaining vacant during that period.

"Guardamar is full, it only takes a walk around the town to see the city is full of tourists," said the councillor, who estimated that more than 100,000 visitors have enjoyed their holidays in the town during the first two weeks of August.

Verdú said that some infrastructure still required to boost tourism was currently missing although the reopening of the swimming pool will take place prior to the start of next summer. “However, Guardamar is a city that lives off tourism and as such we will continue to work toward improving the coastal zone which is the most important feature of the locality.”
